AI for short

The Alternative Interface is part of the standard CumulusMX distribution. Its role is to provide an alternative way of interacting with CumulusMX. It provides all the same options as the standard interface but in a more modern framework. Important The current release does not include AV v5.21 - it will be available in the next release.

However it is not as yet a replacement for the default Interface which is developed by Mark and always contains the latest developments for CumulusMX; while the AI is developed and maintained by me. Due to this, it is always possible that features may initially only be available through the default interface although both Mark and I try to avoid this.

All the same features should be available and work correctly in the AI but if you find something that doesn't work then please contact me via the forum - visit the Alternative CMX Interface page.

This Wiki only covers those aspects of the AI that are different to the Default Interface and how the AI can be configured. It does not provide information about how to use CumulusMX

Its Primary Features

The following can all be managed from the supplied ai-settings page

The AI uses themes which allows you to choose the colour of your interface from a supplied list
- It is easy to create your own theme if required
Although the menu has the same options, it is more logically arranged, many with drop-down lists, to reduce its width.
- In this version, you can opt to use a sidebar menu rather than the default top menu - both provide the same options.
- The top menu will collapse into a mobile menu on small screens.
- The menu only responds to mouse clicks - this makes it more suitable for those with visual imparement.
Panels can be variable heights and have shadows attached.
The geometry of the page can be altered
The shape of alarm LEDs can be changed; you can also change the 'off' colour to match your theme.
The cut off limits for the rain rate images can be user set.
The size and weight of the primary readings on the dashboard can be adjusted.

Re-order the panels on all pages with little HTML programming knowledge
It is also possible to change the number of columns used should you find that the layout used causes too many lines to overspill.
