Internet Settings
This page provides the following options:
* Site
* #Interval Configuration
* #Email server Settings
* #Moon Image
* #Proxy Settings
* #Miscellaneous Settings
Web/Upload Site
If you enable this option you have access to:
* Enabling local file copying
* Enabling the upload of data files((Files used for your public website)) to a public website
* There are **General** settings which govern FTP processes, and
* **Advanced** Settings which again further control how FTP works for your site
Local Copies
You simply need to provide a full path to the destination for the local data files that CumulusMX generates.++ Note|\\ These are the .json files that contain all the website data that CumulusMX uses for the public website even though this is just a local copy.++
Website Files
If you enable this option you will need to provide the following settings:
* The type of FTP connection to use. This depends on your website hosting provider:
* Plain FTP - this is the old standard.
* Use SSH/TLS
* Use SFTP - if your provider supports secure file transfer protocols
* Use PHP: This is the best option if your hot allows it.
* Host Name:This will be the URL of your public site. It may need to be prefixed with FTP: but mine doesn't.
* FTP Port:This depends on the type of FTP connection you use - read the **information** prompt below this entry.
* The FTP folder to copy the data files to.
Interval Configuration
CumulusMX has three predefined **'intervals'** at which data is processed. This section enables you to configure the **standard** interval - usually measured in minutes, and the **Realtime** interval, usually measured in seconds.
- **Use the default website**?
- If you used the Wizard to set up your site this will be checked.
- There are multiple options in this section dealt with below.\\ ++ Details|\\ More details here.++
- **Normal Interval Settings**
- Enable the web update interval. ++Note|\\ This should be checked if you want to copy data as well as upload to a website.++
- Interval Time
- Upload:Check this option to actually upload data to your configured web host.
- Standard File Settings.
- **websitedata.json**Three options; Local, Upload & Copy. Check as required.
- **wxnow.txt**Same three options, check if you need the data contained in this file.
- **Graph File Settings**
- The same three options for each of the graphs that CumulusMX can generate based on the sensors you have in your system.++Note|\\ There is little benefit in telling CumulusMX to upload graph data for sensors you don't have. It will just consume your bandwidth.++
- **Daily Graph Settings**
- Follows the same pattern as above but doesn't include data for optional sensors at this time.((May 2026))
- **Realtime Interval Settings**
- RealTimeCheck this if you want to enable realtime updating of your website/local copy data.++ Note| This is generally used for the gauges.++
- You can now set the time interval for these in seconds, and
- Enable these updates to your website.
- You need to check which files to copy / upload or just generate locally.
Email server Settings
Enable or disable CumulusMX email system. If enabled you will need to provide details for setting up access to your email account.
* The server name that handles your emails++ Note | This usually, but not always, is your domain name preceded with '**mail.**'.++
* The port number for emails.
* Whether to use SSL or TLS. Read the information below this entry for guidance.
* How your email account expects to be authenticated. This is likely to be both username and password.
* The email address of the account that will send the emails
* The password required to authenticate the email address.
External Programs
These are programs that you can ask CumulusMX to run at roll-over, your standard interval and the realtime interval.
For each interval, you can provide the path and name of the program you want CumulusMX to execute and, separately, any parameters that are needed.
++++ Notes |
CumulusMX will default to expect the program to be in the CumulusMX folder so, either specify a relative path or a full path. A reasonable way to test this is to try running the program from the CumulusMX folder.

Moon Image
Used to generate an image of the moon showing its current phase. If you enable this option you will need to...
- Specify an image size
- Opt to have the shaded part of the moon transparent - this is useful if you place it on your own background.
- Opt to upload the generated image to your website.++ Note | It will be copied to the images subfolder located in your chosen upload folder.++
- Opt to make a local copy of the generated image.
- If you do, you need to specify where this local copy will be saved.++ Note | Normally you should call the image '**moon.png**' so that the default and alternative public website can access it.++
Proxy Settings
If you use a proxy server you will need to configure its access details so that any files you want uploaded can be.
Miscellaneous Settings
This section deals with providing access to the CumulusMX Forum and any webcams you have available on your system. Leaving these blank will prevent any links to them from displaying on the public website.
